Let's Fly with Eagles

Deuteronomy 32:11 (NIV)

like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them on its pinions.

I particularly like this in The Message:

He was like an eagle hovering over its nest, overshadowing its young, then spreading its wings lifting them in the air, teaching them to fly.

Don’t you love this image of our Father? He hovers over us, sometimes pushing us out of our safe, secure nest. Forcing us to flap our wings and try things we have never tried before.

Making sure he catches us just before we hit the ground.

And you know the good bit? The end result of all this trial. We will learn how to fly! How cool is that?

God never meant that our spiritual education would be an easy one. The University of Spiritual Growth has a high level of ‘on the job’ training. We find that we need to re-sit for many exams. But if we can if we accept the Father’s discipline we will experience the abundant life he promised.
